Macy’s latest announcement is an expansion of their iBeacon retail concept that was created in partnership with Shopkick. The expansion is set to feature up to 4000 shopBeacon devices that will be set up in a number of North American Macy’s locations.
The popular retailer first introduced their iBeacon retail concept in 2013 and is set to start expanding the popular shopping feature by the end of September. The project’s completion is planned for the beginning of 2015.
This interactive retail experience allows Macy’s customers to gain access to discounts, sales and other promotions that are specific to their location and chosen store department.
In addition to saving money, the experience also allows shoppers to customize their retail trip with recommendations that are tailored for them. These recommendations are based on past purchases or on a list of items that a customer has recently liked.
